ARIZONA'S #1 HATER!

Hey! I'm Iris, but call me whatever. I am a full-time college student majoring in Astrophysics and a wannabe sci-fi writer.
I write for fun and focus on science-fiction and science-fantasy worldbuilding projects, with a couple of other actual writing projects like fanfic and even a novel thrown in there for good measure.

The Eclipse Wars

Status:
Active

My longest-running project, The Eclipse Wars, is a collaborative science-fantasy worldbuilding and roleplay project started in the ancient year of 2020. It follows a group of mercenaries, starting in the year 2074, in an alternate future of humanity. In this world, humanity is not only technologically advanced but has had access to magic for over 10,000 years, drastically impacting the world's history and its possible future. Follow this band of mercenaries and their allies in the Global Bastion Alliance, Purity, and The Lunar Order as they fight against the world-threatening forces of The Collective, the robotic legions of The Contingency, and more.Relevant Links:

The Project of all Time
(Working Title)

Status:
Hiatus due to motivation

The Project of all Time (which is just a working title. Don't worry, a more serious title is coming soon) is currently my largest project; while we aren't too far into it, we're still a long long way off from finishing. The Project is a very hard sci-fi worldbuilding project in which six other of my friends and I realistically and fully build a world from the ground up with a stellar neighborhood, star system, habitable planets, plate tectonics, and tectonic history, climate, speculative evolution and speculative biology, cultures, languages, and more all while being grounded almost entirely on real-world physics with very little deviation to fit our vision. I cannot wait until we finish this project, but follow along in our worldbuilding logs for now!Relevant Links and Member List:

The Journey Home

Status:

Has not started

My most ambitious project yet, "The Journey Home," is a full, hard sci-fi novel that I am currently planning and brainstorming. It revolves around humanity billions of years into the future when they have left the galaxy in massive generation ships. The book (or series if I get invested enough) will follow one of these ships as they hop from galaxy to galaxy on a voyage back to the Milky Way (now Milkdromeda) and eventually what is left of Sol. There will be no FTL travel whatsoever, and instead, these far future humans use gravity assists around stars to get up to significant percentages of the speed of light to travel between stars, and gravity assists around supermassive black holes around the center of galaxies to get up to a few trillionths of the speed of light to hop between galaxies. Due to these people spending a large amount of time near the speed of light, very long periods of time are no longer a concept for these humans, with hundreds of thousands of years passing by in minutes or seconds. This whole concept is even further out than the completion of Project of All Time, so expect very few, if any, updates for this project.Relevant Links:

Stellaris Timescales

Status:
Hiatus due to motivation and Stellaris Mod Updates

A semi-interactive worldbuilding project in which I create four human empires for a heavily modded Stellaris campaign in which my friends, followers, etc, then vote on which campaign they would like to see expanded on. I then take the winner and play through a Stellaris save with them and report on their findings, victories, losses, exploration, and more.Relevant Links:

Sci-fi TTRPG

Status:
Active-ish (on and off due to motivation)

This is a mostly original hard sci-fi project. I and a couple of friends are building a TTRPG system for hard physics and space combat and will be completely originally developed and tested by myself and some friends of mine. My current doc that I had is actually going over a massive rework at this time as I have come to the conclusion that it really doesn't work that well and was too reliant on DnDRelevant Links:

Silly Alien Comic

Status:
Hiatus due to motivaiton and I cant draw :(

An original comic idea I had out of nowhere that combines Star Wars/Star Trek-style aliens that biologically make no sense and are just the "human in a costume" or "animal in a costume" trope, but any of the spacecraft designs and propulsion methods (including FTL) are grounded entirely in real-world physics. Hence, we end up with a world that has little green men-style aliens with large tensile fusion engines with antimatter afterburners and gargantuan radiators.Relevant Links:

A Game that Means something

Status:
Inactive due to motivation and inability to draw or code

After playing Outer Wilds and sitting on it, I thought of making a "Game that means something." I want this game to be one in which, once you complete it, you sit back and think about what you did during the game, what you learned, and what the game is trying to tell you. I want to make a game that changes you as a person for the better. There will be a very little amount of spoilers I am willing to share about this game until I get some concept art out there, and there will be no spoilers for the game's story until it is mostly done. Just know it is space-related because who do you think I am?Relevant Links:

Worldbuilding Commissions!

I don't have much of a writing profile (yet) but what I do have is a significant amount of worldbuilding experience and a proper portfolio to back it up so I thought that I would set these up!

What Exactly Does This Mean?

If you need help with most facets of worldbuilding, whether it be a new faction, specbio, specevo, designing of spacecraft, general brainstorming, or even something as simple as giving an outline for how to write a character document I am here to help!

General Information

What is my specialty: I specialize in science fiction and science fantasy and I don't guarantee the best work outside of those genres and subgenres, that isn't to say that I straight up won't do any kind of work outside of those genres because I will just don't expect me to be the most confident on those ideas or it to be my best work.
What am I most willing to work on: I am most willing to help work on general worldbuilding of a setting like getting a major hook or idea down, ideas for technology levels and technologies in general; helping develop or developing a planet, cultures, alien species, faction, specific designs of starships, etc; TECHNOLOGY! any sort of speculative technology, especially within a hard sci-fi genre, I would LOVE to help create, especially if it is military technology; really anything sci-fi related tbh; actual worldbuilding building a planet from the ground up with things like plate tectonics, star system creation, ocean currents, biome distribution, and all that jazz I am more than willing to work on, you're just going to have to either find someone to draw the map for you or draw it yourself.
What am I willing to work on but iffy about for one reason or another: Speculative Biology and Speculative Evolution. Specbio and Specevo are really fun but I'm not entirely well versed in the subjects.
What I am not willing to work on: NSFW of any kind not only am I not really that good at writing it, writing it makes me kinda feel iffy and I don't like it; Gore No. High Fantasy I'm not the biggest fan of the high fantasy genre HOWEVER if you make a good enough pitch to me I might do it; Artwork I can't draw :( so I'm really only willing to do writing based stuff, I can however give pointers on how to improve artwork worldbuilding-wise.
